Choolannur Pea Fowl Sanctuary, Palakkad

Choolannur Pea Fowl Sanctuary (Mayiladumpara) is a woods at Nedungathpara takes its name from the huge number of peacocks (mayil) found here that can be located frequently at day break and sunset. Around 200 peacocks possess the broad timberlands of the Choolannur Pea Fowl Sanctuary at Nedungathpara close Palakkad. Not bound by doors, the haven which has been home to peacocks since ages, enables free access to guests.
