Kappad beach, Kozhikode
For the general population of Kozhikode, this wonderful extend of shake studded shoreline is Kappakkadavu. To the traveler it is a standout amongst the most enchanting of Kerala’s shorelines. Kappad discovers say in history and geology messages as the door to the Malabar Coast. Here, 501 years back on 27th May 1498, 170 men driven by the Portuguese pilot Vasco da Gama (1460-1524) cruised in and ventured into Kerala to make another section ever; the narrative of a long and tumultuous socio-political connection amongst India and Europe.
It was the flavors and abundance of Malabar that initially brought the Arabs, the Phoenicans, the Greeks, the Romans, the Portuguese, the Dutch and the English to Kerala. Kappad has seen numerous such arrivals. Kozhikode was then the most imperative exchange focus of the Malabar area and the Zamorins who administered this compelling area were capable and quick. Despite the fact that the Portuguese were invited in Kozhikode they were not great energized or engaged for long by the Zamorins, which may be the reason they moved their base to Kochi and Kollam towards south.
Today just a little stone landmark is left at the Kappad shoreline to talk about its incredible noteworthy significance. On the stones close-by is a sanctuary accepted to be 800 years of age.
To the vacationer, this small nautical town is a safe house. The best course to Kappad is along the backwaters. Untainted and uncrowded, the beautiful backwaters of Kozhikode offer an entrancing knowledge. A ride down the backwaters through the Korappuzha waterway conveys you to the shoreline.
